About Us
About the Kappa Sigma FraternityThe Kappa Sigma Fraternity was founded as we know it in 1869 at the University of Virginia. Since then it has spread to over 295 campuses in North America and Europe and has initiated over 230,000 men. The fraternity even dates its roots all the way back to the 15th century in Italy, where the brotherhood provided protection from violent political leaders. The fraternity takes pride in initiating only the men who have shown that they are worthy of wearing our badge. Those men show excellence in the four pillars of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity: Scholarship, Leadership, Fellowship, and Service. Brothers are also expected to maintain a high level of involvement in those areas after initiation.
Beta Chapter
The Beta Chapter of Kappa Sigma at the University of Alabama was founded June 3, 1899 and was one of the first six fraternities on campus. We take pride in a long history of tradition. Our chapter is now composed of 112 initiated brothers, every one of which exceeds the standards held by our fraternity for achievement in the Four Pillars. Our current house was built in 1964 and houses 27 brothers all in individual rooms. We are always looking for new young men interested in pledging a fraternity at Alabama; if this is you make sure to visit our rush page.
